Haleakala
Hiking this volcano is definitely a great way to do something healthy and physical while having fun. The mountain can accommodate every level from beginner to advanced: Hikes range from a breezy half mile walk to an arduous 11-mile trek through lava fields. If you get to the peak early you can catch the breathtaking sunrise!

'Iao Valley
For a healthy and cool hike through the lush greenery of the West Maui Mountains, take up one of the trails in Iao Valley. It's always uphill so it's a great cardio and leg workout. Choose one of the trails through the trees and guava, or hike alongside the clear flowing Iao stream. At the end, you'll feel you earned the reward to jump into the brisk water and cool off!

Waihe'e Ridge
The hike begins at the 1000 ft. elevation and climbs along the windward slope of west Maui through a brushy guava thicket, planted trees and a wet native scrub forest. At the 2563 ft. peak, views of Wailuku and central Maui, the Kahakuloa slopes and Mount Eke are spectacular! Be sure to bring a camera.

Polipoli
Beginning at Polipoli Springs State Park, the .6 mi. trail passes through dense stands of cypress, cedars and pines. It ends in an open grassy pasture. For a longer hike, the Polipoli, Redwood, Plum and Haleakala Trails connect to form a picturesque loop trail definitely worth the effort (3.5 miles). Pack a picnic and enjoy the mountain air.
