Big Beach, Makena
A great hangout on the weekends and a prime spot for shore break bodyboarding and skimming. The waves and currents are very strong, so make sure to check the surf report for the south side before taking your kids there. It is a very spacious beach so there is tons of room for picnics, beach volleyball, beach football, soccer, etc.

Launiopoko State Park
Located at mile marker 18 on Honoapililani Hwy. South of Lahaina- A relaxing West side beach perfect for the family to visit any day of the week. Plus, it's the most popular place to learn how to
surf! It's keiki-friendly too- there's a large grassy picnic area next to a shallow children's tide pool.

Ho'okipa Beach
Located just past Paia on Hana Hwy.- A local favorite for a challenging day of kite/windsurfing and bodyboarding when Maui's north shore surf kicks up. The waves can be scary, the wind fierce and the current strong- no place for beginners! Excellent multiple breaks.
For tow in surfing, The "Jaws" break is out sea to the north from here and not visible from the beach unless the swells are large enough to produce the monsters it is famous for.

Freight Trains or Ma'alaea
West of Ma'alaea harbor, Freighttrains is a rare breaker in Maui surfing but when it does, it's the fastest right in the world.
