Five on the Fifth
WAILUKU--- Market Street is getting ready for another big First Friday celebration...maybe the biggest yet. Maui Thing is turning five, and is ready to celebrate their anniversary with the whole island.
“Five on the Fifth” will be held on July 5, at 6:30 p.m. A “SECRET BAND” will rock Wailuku Town with a free concert and models will take the runway wearing Maui Thing’s brand new summer line. Themed, “Alive,” the shows lifecycle will go through an unveiling of the new designs and models, a reflection of brightness after death, and will come full circle to a rebirth. The fashion show will begin at 7:15 p.m.
Maui Thing’s store was opened by Wailuku girl, Saedene Ota in July 2008 and is inspired by all things good on the Valley Isle. “Stuck on Good” is the slogan that the company continues to use for positive inspiration and messaging in their designs. From its conception, Ota and her design team focused their efforts on a fresh and intriguing lifestyle company. Not only are they a clothing store, but the Maui Thing team also plays a large role in the vibrancy of Wailuku Town, and work with many other community efforts and events.
The new summer line will be available in store on June 28. A big mahalo to community partners - Native 92.5, Tamura’s, Alexander & Baldwin, Maui Beach Hotel, CK Cinema, Rockstar Rides, Goodfellow Brothers, Takitani Agaran & Jorgensen Law, Anheuser-Busch, Carpenter’s Union and Tony Novak-Clifford.
Maui Thing is located at 7 N. Market St., Wailuku. For more information about the event please contact Lesley Cummings at 808-249-0215 or email email@example.com
There will be reserved seating for media. Please RSVP via email if you are able to attend.
"Maui Boy" big leaguer, Kurt Suzuki is in town to put on a free youth clinic tomorrow at Iron Maehara Stadium. In this interview with Kanoa Leahey, he talks about sharing his experience with the next generation of aspiring baseball stars and keeping true to his roots. As you can see from his tee, he's a fan of Maui Thing :) He and his wife, Renee have also donated money for a new batting cage at his alma mater, Baldwin High School. Now that's what we call a "Maui Thing!"
World series champion, three time Gold Glove Award winner, National League All-Star, stellar Philadelphia Phillies outfielder...in a Maui Thing tee? Yeehaw! Even though he's big time, he stays true to his roots and is always giving back to the community that raised him. Whether its with his annual charity golf tournament or visiting the Boys & Girls Club in Paukukalo, Shane's always keeping Maui in mind. Born and raised in Wailuku, Shane Victorino is one of our favorite "Maui Things". Thanks Shane :)
